Dating again
Wow, I was unprepared for just how much the dating scene had changed. I felt like a fish out of water, for sure.
Apparently online dating apps are the new thing. I had heard of them and seen them but had never used one. I tried a few and let me tell ya, there are some real gems out there. I hope you caught the sarcasm in that statement. It didn't take long for guy to how interest. However, they were not the kind of guys I would ever date. Actually, I am not sure why they are even called dating apps. They should be called wham, bam, thank you ma'am apps. That is what most of the guys seemed to be interested in.
I gave up. I guess I was meant to be single for life. Maybe I should just sit back and enjoy my life as a grandma. It was like I had two options..hook ups or stay single.
Then I decided to try a new one I had heard about....
I started a conversation with this man. I let him know, right up front, what I was and wasn't interested in. We talked for a bit and then he said those dreaded words I just want to be friends. WHAT...HOW...WHY... I couldn't believe my ears. We had only been chatting for a few hours before I got friend zoned. It's a good thing he couldn't see me at that point. I am pretty sure my face was read for embarrassment and long from disappointment. I thought about it for a bit. I decided that maybe this was a good thing. Maybe he would turn out to be an amazing friend. At that point, I needed all the friends I could surround myself with.
We got off the app and started texting each other. It started slowly, just as friends. We discussed anything and everything. We started texting each other more and more. Before long we were texting each other whenever we had free time. Those texts then turned into phone calls. I really wanted to meet him in person but wasn't sure if he would be willing to do that. After a bit I asked my daughter her opinion. Ahhh the joys of having adult daughters hehe. She told me to just go for it. Tell him what I thought and go from there. Sooo, with her by my side, I sent that text.
That was a game changer. We met, face to face, only as friends. That quickly changed though. It was obvious, to both of us, that there was chemistry between us. We decided to take it slow and pursue the romantic side of things.
It has been wonderful. It is awesome to feel my heart skip a beat. It's been amazing to get butterflies when I see him. It is great to feel wanted, sexy and loved. It has been 15 month now and going strong.
This, folks, is how Heather got her groove back haha
